Beauty is where you find it... but you have to look for it. Sometimes this beauty is obvious but so often it’s subtle — hiding in plain sight. In my travels to Europe recently, I was surrounded by such beautiful art everywhere I looked. The most obvious was the art and architecture that highlighted not only an appreciation of aesthetics but of history as well.
Walking to the Rembrandt Museum in Amsterdam I found myself looking down, away from all of the beauty surrounding me. The ground was still damp form a short spring shower. The texture of nature next to the texture of man-made bricks took my breath away. It was that contrast aesthetic that I struggle to create in my work.
